Global Legal Hackathon – Chicago

The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) is excited to invite you to our Chicago headquarters to participate in the inaugural Global Legal Hacakthon! ALA is honored to serve as a host for the Global Legal Hackathon in Chicago.

This community-building event will tackle service delivery and pain points in the delivery of legal services, utilizing ALA’s Uniform Process Based Management System (UPBMS) and other technology solutions, with the goal of reinventing and streamlining legal processes. The Hackathon kicks off in 40 cities worldwide on February 23 at 5 PM Central Time.

The inaugural Global Legal Hackathon is positioned to be the largest event of its kind. Hosts include major multinational corporations, world-famous universities, innovative non-profit associations, and think tanks. The event engages law schools, law firms and in-house departments, legal technology companies, governments, and service providers to the legal industry globally. The best thinkers, doers and practitioners in law will come together to support a unified vision: rapid development of solutions to improve the legal industry, world-wide.

Participants from all backgrounds and industries are welcome to join the Global Legal Hackathon, including law firm partner and associates, in-house counsel, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and tech innovators both inside and outside of the legal industries.

On Sunday evening, teams will present their solutions and a panel of judges will declare a winner. A global panel of judges will pick eight finalists to attend the awards gala in New York on April 21st, where four global winners will be announced. 

Teams will be developing a solution that fit into one of these two streams:
• Private benefit: The Business & Practice of law (progressing the business of law); or

• Public Benefit: Good government, Legal Systems & A2J (facilitating access to justice)
